English Language Learner (ELL) Endorsement
Learn to address the dual influences of language and culture on student achievement and engagement, so that you can help students learning English be successful in and outside of the classroom. You'll discover how cultural diversity affects different instruction and assessment practices so you can be more effective in your teaching strategies.

Coursework
ELL Endorsement coursework is offered in the evenings from 6:30-9:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters. Crucial elements in these courses include methods for the instruction and assessment of English learners, integration of core content standards with language acquisition standards, and second-language-acquisition research. In addition to these components, our ELL courses also address how issues of cultural diversity, such as poverty, affect instruction and assessment practices.

Courses from the ELL program may be applied toward an English Language Learner Endorsement and/or toward elective credits in 小黄鸭视频's various master's degree programs within the School of Education. To complete the ELL endorsement in Washington state, students must earn a passing score on the West-E ELL exam. The ELL credits must be completed at the graduate level (500-level) in order to include those credits as part of a master's degree.
WEST-E Exam
For a Washington state endorsement in English-language learning (ELL), students are required to pass the WEST-E exam in ELL and to complete all required coursework with a grade of C or above.
The 小黄鸭视频 institutional code is 253. Go online to to register and explore additional information about the exam. States other than Washington have other exam requirements. Before 小黄鸭视频 can process your endorsed certificate from OSPI, all endorsement requirements must be completed, and the passing results of the WEST-E exam must be received by the 小黄鸭视频 Educational Certification Office.
Experienced Instructors
All instructors are experienced in culturally and linguistically diverse issues in education. Each demonstrates strengths in different areas of need for CLD students ranging throughout elementary, middle school and senior high school levels. Their experience includes both positions as ELL or ELD specialists and /or regular-education teachers in a variety of districts and situations statewide.
Tuition & Financial Aid
Courses are offered at the graduate and undergraduate levels. In order to qualify for financial aid consideration, you must apply for either an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
